Speedo Angels Screen Protectors

Speedo Angels Screen Protectors

If you’re like us and you love a clean, scratch free dash on your bike, then we might just have the product for you. Speedo Angels, a UK-based company, make a range of high-quality screen protectors to keep your dash looking factory fresh.

Speedo Angels was started in 2015 after Company Director Matt was disappointed to see light scratches on the TFT screen of his brand new Ducati 1199 Panigale. Keen to protect against further damage, but unable to find a screen protector that fit available on the market, Matt set about creating a solution for his problem.

Today Speedo Angels sells a huge range of screen protectors, anti-fog mirror and helmet films, as well as helmet visor cleaning sponges. We reached out to Speedo Angels to see if we could test their screen protectors on our Ducati Scrambler. Thankfully, they were only to happy to oblige.

Overview

Speedo Angels’ screen protectors are available in a number of different options.

Their standard range of protectors are made from high-quality plastic and can be ordered in either ‘ultra-clear’ or ‘anti-glare’ options. Ultra-clear screen protectors provide scratch resistance and protection whilst being almost invisible once applied, whilst anti-glare protectors provide the same protection with the added benefit of reducing reflections from LCD and TFT screens.

If you’re looking for a more premium offering, Speedo Angels also make a range of ‘nano glass’ and ‘tempered glass’ protectors. Their nano glass protectors are made from a combination of glass and plastic, and provide a higher level of scratch resistance when compared to their standard offering. Tempered glass is toughened, fortified glass which has been applied with an oleophobic coating that repels oils (the same stuff high-end smart phones are coated with to reduce fingerprints).

We tried the nano glass protectors on the Scrambler, and were blown away by the quality of the product, the included fitting kit, as well as the ease of the installation process.

Application & Usability

From the moment we opened the package, it was clear that this was going to be a simple product to install. The kit comes standard with the screen protector, fitting kit, and a list of clear and precise installation instructions.

Inside the fitting kit you’ll find an alcohol wipe for cleaning your screen, a suede cleaning cloth for removing any residual dust, and a smoothing card to ensure an air bubble free application.

The installation instructions are easy to follow and contain all the information you need to get a clean fit without any problems. Follow the instructions to the letter and you’ll have the screen protector on in five minutes flat. In a nutshell, the installation process goes something like this:

  • clean the screen with the included alcohol wipe and suede cloth
  • align the protector with the centre of your dash and peel the backing away from one edge of the protector to expose an area of the adhesive
  • Start applying the screen protector being careful not to touch the adhesive
  • Slowly move your way from one side of the screen to the other, using the supplied smoothing card to ensure a correct fit, and gently removing the backing
  • Once fitted, remove the protective film from the front of the screen protector and you’re good to go.

If we can do it, anyone can!

Safety

A standard feature for our product reviews, thankfully there’s no much that can go wrong with the Speedo Angels screen protectors. The ultra thin nano glass protector fits securely to the screen, and there’s no indication that it’s likely to lift whilst riding any time soon.

The protector is also ultra clear, meaning the LCD screen is still incredibly easy to read, even in direct sun-light.

Value for money

High quality and exceptional value for money, at roughly $20.00 AUD for the one nano glass screen protector, it’s a relatively small investment with big returns.

When you consider the size and quality of today’s colour TFT screens, it would be a damn shame to have to replace one in the event of a slide or rogue stone. Of course Speedo Angels’ screen protectors aren’t going to protect against a major crash, however should you end rubber-side up, the state of your fancy TFT is the least of your problems.

Features:
  • Flexible plastic and glass composite
  • Ultra thin
  • Anti-scratch
  • Fits like a glove, with enough room for minor installation gaffs
In summary

Speedo Angels screen protectors are simple and effective. They’re an exceptionally well made, high quality product that provides good value for money. Easy to install with clear step-by-step instructions, we can’t think of any reasons why you shouldn’t already have one on your bike.
